SDCC Plate Workshop

10:00 am - 11:30 am

Join SDCC for a one-day workshop where you will learn the technique of making plates. All plate-making materials are included for $45/person. For an additional $20 additional you can bisque-fire your plate, glaze it and then have it glaze-fired for a finished piece. You will be able to stop by any weekday evening class or Friday open studio to glaze.

16th Annual SDCC Chili Cook-off

Join us for the 3rd Annual SoNo Park Holiday Fest & CHiLiPALooZA at Thorn & 32nd Streets in North Park. This year also marks the 16th Annual San Diego Ceramic Connection Chili Cook-Off. This event that will bring together North Park and South Park for the holidays... there will be no more bickering about which community has this or which area is cooler... simply good, clean family fun that everyone will enjoy. We'll have chili in hand-spun ceramic bowls, great holiday gifts and crafts from local artisans, live music, kids' activities, a craft beer and wine garden, and much more.

So mark your calendar for December 2nd, 2012! We'll see you there!

Workshop with Master Potter, Kouta Shimazaki
August 18th and 19th, 2012
Boulder, CO

In this two day, hands-on workshop at The City of Boulder Pottery Lab, Shimazaki will demonstrate several methods and forms including, but not limited to, hand-built tea bowls, large luted vessels and smaller lidded containers. Participants, regardless of previous experience with clay, will be able to practice various techniques with the assistance of Mr. Shimazaki.

Kouta Shimazaki's Ceramics Class


San Diego Ceramic Connection, a fully outfitted ceramics studio and gallery, was established in 1997 by Master Japanese potter, Kouta Shimazaki. The studio offers three-hour classes, six days a week, with an open studio every Friday for all students. Kouta teaches his unique Japanese techniques in pottery in a group setting with individual attention each session.

Come to the San Diego Ceramics Connection to learn beginning through advanced techniques with stoneware, porcelain, hand building, wheel throwing, and glazing. San Diego Ceramic Connection sponsors and holds regular events promoting pottery and the arts community in general. Please visit the Events page for information on upcoming events.
